The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships provide support for young Australians in a variety of categories to help them further their cultural education and achieve their dreams. They are awarded each year for study, maintenance and travel either in Australia or overseas.
John Chisholm Marten (1908 – 1966), who established these scholarships through his estate, had a life long interest in the arts and literature. The scholarships commenced in 1967.
Scholarships are offered in nine categories that alternate:
2012 Scholarships
Applications for the 2012 scholarships are now closed. Materials are now being sent to the judges for their review and we expect to announce the winner in mid-March. Regular updates will be posted on the Marten Bequest facebook page and official website. The 2012 categories currently being judged are Architecture, Ballet, Instrumental Music, Poetry and Prose.
Details for the 2013 scholarships will be available mid 2012 and the categories next available are: Acting, Painting, Sculpture and Singing.
