R & M McGivern Prize

Promoting artistic excellence

The R & M McGivern Prize is a prestigious award that promotes artistic excellence in watercolour, oil and acrylic painting.

The award was established through the will of the late Muriel Evelyn McGivern who passed away on 29 January, 2000. The award is in memory of herself and her husband, the late Reginald McGivern.

The prize is awarded every three years from the date of Mrs McGivern's death. It was first awarded in 2003.

2012 Applications

2012 applications have now open. Before submitting your application please ensure you read the Terms and Conditions and Help Notes.

In 2012 artists are invited to respond to the theme: 'Uncertainty' - the condition of being unsure about someone, something or the outcome of a future event. Whether economic, political, environmental, social or personal the twenty-first century is characterised by uncertainty.

An exhibition of selected entries will be held from 10 May to 23 June 2012 at Maroondah Art Gallery.
